The Club100 Senior South Championships reach Round 5 this weekend, with the SP40 South and SP60 championships racing on Saturday before the Sprint competitors take over on Sunday.

With the season entering its second half, the championship picture is beginning to change. The drivers at the front with healthy points advantages will be looking to make those margins count, while the dropped-score system becomes an increasingly important part of the title fight.

SP40 HEAVYWEIGHT

Andrew O’Neill continues to dominate the championship, having won seven of the eight finals so far and holding the maximum 200 points to count. Tim Penny and Anwar Beroual-Smith are tied on 183, while Kyle Walker has made a late-season charge into fourth after a strong Round 4.

For the chasing pack, Lydd represents a crucial opportunity to close the gap before the dropped scores become an even bigger factor.

SP60 HEAVYWEIGHT

Andrew O’Neill is again the man to beat, sitting on the maximum 200 points to count. Tim Penny follows on 182, with Sam Iddles and Zac Cuff separated by just one point in the battle immediately behind.

The Super Heavyweight contest is also firmly part of the SP60 story, with Martin Cox currently leading the SHW standings from Christopher Heath and Olavo Castro. With plenty still to play for, every result will matter as the title fight develops.

SP40 LIGHTWEIGHT

Jack O’Neill has been the standout driver so far and leads on the maximum 200 points to count. Jonas Klimas and Jean Sammut are next, while Alisdair Irvine and Callum Martin remain firmly in the leading group.

Jack has a significant advantage, but with four rounds still to come after Lydd, the chasing pack will be determined to keep the pressure on.

SP60 LIGHTWEIGHT

Jack O’Neill has also established himself at the front of SP60 Lightweight, again holding the maximum 200 points to count.

Thomas Northcott, Lewis Marchant and Callum Martin are all within eight points of one another behind him, creating a fascinating battle for the remaining podium positions. Lewis in particular arrives with momentum after taking a victory in the most recent round.

HEAVYWEIGHT SPRINT

Andrew O’Neill leads the Heavyweight Sprint championship, with Sam Pooley and Tim Penny heading the chasing pack. Mikey Nichols and Sam Iddles are also firmly in contention, while Elliot Alt, Adam Wright, Sam Pike and Matthew Cooper are separated by just a handful of points further back.

The Super Heavyweight battle is another one to watch, with the SHW runners continuing their own fight within the Heavyweight field.

LIGHTWEIGHT SPRINT

Jack O’Neill leads the Lightweight Sprint standings, but Dominic Balasaitis is only three points behind. Lewis Marchant, Jake Chapman and Andrew McWilliam are all close enough to keep the pressure on, while Joseph Simcock and Jamie Tiley-Gooden lead a highly competitive C2 battle.

With the points positions so tightly packed, Lydd could have a major impact on the order.

MIDDLEWEIGHT SPRINT

Ethan Saunders-Wilks heads into Round 5 at the top of the Middleweight Sprint championship, with Curt Holmes and Anwar Beroual-Smith close behind.

Max Chapman, Thomas Hughes and Daniel Lysenskyi complete the leading group, with the gap between the top six small enough that one strong weekend could transform the championship picture.

THE DROPPED-SCORE GAME BEGINS TO MATTER

From this point of the season, it’s not simply about winning races — it’s about building the right championship score.

Those with substantial advantages will be looking to extend their buffers and potentially put themselves in a position to secure their titles this weekend! For the challengers, Lydd is an opportunity to make sure those leaders don’t get too comfortable.
