GTA-Team claimed pole for the rookie race ahead of new boys ESRR. Then it was the usual suspects of the Mufflers and 221 Racing with Mobile Chicane doing well to line up fifth in class. Team G3Pro were some way off the pace and would need to pull something out of the bag in the race. The pole sitters led away cleanly. 221 racing nipped past the Mufflers and ESRR to slot into second and there the running order remained until the first round of pit stops. An incident for the Mufflers in the first stint dropped them a couple of laps behind the leaders so this promoted Keke’s KOKS – yet another team to come out of the KOKS stable – up into fourth behind, GTA, 221 and ESRR. With pit stops once again playing a vital role in the race, the positions changed at the front with ESRR taking the lead during the middle of the race from GTA. These two had built up a large lead over the rest of the field which was being led by Keke’s KOKS. Moriwaki were up well from their back of the grid starting position and were fending off a challenge from 221 Racing. The Mufflers were recovering after their early race dramas. As the race wore on, GTA had retaken the lead but ESRR were on a charge and an epic battle ensued. Eventually managing to get past again, ESRR started to try to build a gap over their rivals. They showed great pace and, coupled with some smooth pit work, soon built up an uncatchable lead. As the clocked ticked away, the front three all spread out with the only battles being those for the minor places. After 2 hours, ESRR crossed the line to win by almost an entire lap from GTA. 221 Racing were a distant third with Moriwaki fourth and Team G3Pro managing to salvage fifth. Despite finishing well behind the race leaders, Team G3Pro still lead the championship from 221 Racing with two races still to go. The title race is very close with no clear favourite.
