Premier Sprint Championship 2013, Rd.7

Final 1

Having dominated the previous day’s endurance, Brian Trott continued his excellent form with pole position for final one. Buckmore Park specialists Jay Elliott and Chris Hanson lined up 2nd and 3rd ahead of Pete O’Connor and Jonny Goddard. Championship hopeful Chris Powell had a bad session and was way down in 19th.

Trott got off the line well. Hanson got past Elliot and into 2nd but further back Jamie Crease and Daz Teal were both victims of first lap incidents. Back at the front and Trott continued to build on his lead but Ian Blake was the man on the move; dispatching Goddard, O’Connor, Hanson and Elliott to move into 2nd. Maycock was also flying. However, no one had an answer for Trott and he won by over 2s. Blake came home 2nd with Maycock an impressive 3rd.

Final 2

After a disappointing first final, Chris Powell was keen to make amends and duly stuck it on pole. Trott was once again looking strong and lined up 2nd. Blake, Goddard and Richard Higham completed the top 5.

While Powell got away cleanly, Trott made a terrible start and dropped to 8th. Powell was under intense pressure from Ian Blake and the latter made his move on lap 5. Higham was just behind this leading pair and looking to pounce. Meanwhile, Trott was gradually moving back up the order and was up to 3rd by lap 8. Lap 11 saw him take 2nd from Powell and on the penultimate lap, he swept past Blake to take the lead. An incredible performance and 3 wins out of 3 races for the weekend.
