Lightweight Clubman Sprint Championship 2013, Rd.8

Jack Harding was the man on pole for the Lightweight Clubman race with Ray Norris and Dan Milner both putting in a good performance. Championship leader dave Waters was 5th.

The field mostly got round in grid order with the exception of 4th place Chris Lewis-Evans who was bumped down to 12th. James Dowding and Dave Waters both despatched Norris and Milner but sadly Waters slipped down the order himself later in the race – struggling as he was for pace. Ahead of this battle, Jack Harding continued to lead but was being chased hard by Dowding. These 2 built a 6s lead over the rest of the field with Harding taking victory with Dowding 2nd and Watt managing to claim 3rd.

The on-form Dowding took pole for final 2 ahead of Rob Larque and Jack Harding. Waters’ day was going from bad to worse and he could only manage 9th.

Once again, the majority of the field got away cleanly and in grid order. Lap 2 saw Larque lose out to Harding and Ben Finch. Despite a few battles in the mid-field, the running order at the front remained unchanged with Dowding opening up a huge lead. Lap 12 saw Ross Wheelaghan nip past Finch for 3rd but up ahead, Dowding cruised home over 7s clear of Harding to win. Poor Dave Waters only managed 8th but still retains his championship lead.
